How Big A Pay Cut Should A Career-Changer Expect?

I was a physical therapist and then a physical therapy manager for over twenty years. Now I am transitioning to healthcare practice management.

I’ve had several job interviews so I am encouraged. I should know my salary requirement for this job search, but I am afraid to state a salary requirement because they might think it’s too much money for someone who is changing careers.

The subject of compensation has not come up yet in any of my interviews.

I was earning a pretty big salary in my last PT Management job. How big a pay cut should I prepare to take when I go into a practice management role?

I have heard that I can expect a pretty big drop in pay, perhaps twenty-five percent. Is that your experience, too?

Thanks Liz!
