Andrew Strauss has warned that anyone pulling out of the Bangladesh tour will risk their place in the team as the deadline approaches for players to make up their minds.
With only white-ball captain Eoin Morgan and opening batsman Alex Hales understood to be wavering – as revealed by Sportsmail on Monday – that raises the possibility of Morgan losing his job should he decide not to go because of security concerns.
Strauss, the England team director, wants answers from all the players when he meets them for central contract discussions on Friday and Saturday, with the Test squad for Bangladesh and India, and the one-day squad for Bangladesh, named on September 16.

England’s one-day captain Eoin Morgan still has reservations about touring Bangladesh
‘I can’t force anyone on that plane,’ he said. ‘But the big consequence for not going is that you’re giving someone else the opportunity to stake a claim for themselves.
‘That’s just the same as if someone gets injured: you are out of possession of that spot in the team for a period of time, and if someone does really well you can’t give any guarantees. That’s a choice people have to make for themselves.’
